Brendan DuBois of Exeter, New Hampshire, is the award-winning author of 130 short stories and sixteen novels including his latest, “Fatal Harbor,” part of the Lewis Cole mystery series (Pegasus Books) which will be published in May 2014. This second book in the series is light years ahead of its predecessor. I almost didn't buy it, but something in the first novel plucked along the edges of my brain whispering, maybe this author improved as he moved along with his writing. And he did! The plot is interesting, the action is involving, and it was good enough to keep reading in spite of some of the worst typos and lack of decent proofing I've ever seen in e-books. Who does the proofing. anyway? I only hope this author didn't pay too much for it. If you can ignore that problem and can figure out what the author's intention was in some of the sentences, this is a good read.Product details

This was an excellent book, with the exception of the kindle text which contained typos, incomplete words, inaccurate punctuation and paragraphing, all of which became a very annoying distraction.
He's done it again! THANKS Brendan, for another humdinger of a story! Lewis Cole & friends (and enemies) never fail to thrill & surprise me. I forget about time & tide while sitting on the beach reading your books! Keep 'em coming Mr D.
Another 4 star. I can't do more than that because the typos are many and they pull me out of suspension of disbelief. I almost stopped reading after chapter 4. But, I stuck with it and the story is worth it.

Am just getting into the Lewis Cole series. After starting at book one with a hard copy, for books two and three I resorted to the electronic version via my . In all of my years of reading, in any venue, I have never seen a work product so riddled with errors of the editing type. There is no single explanation for the types of errors. Gives the impression that someone hard of hearing, lacking any sense of content, and a bad typist, is typing dictated text, then not proof reading or spell checking any of it. This is a total distraction and precludes actually enjoying the books. What is the explanation of this situation.
We enjoy reading local/NewEngalnd authors, especially mysteries, and Mr. Dubois certainly fits that bill very nicely. They are a fun read, plus the location are familiar. It's a very nice read and I would recommend it.
Perhaps if the book had been proof read before publishing I would not be so critical. Gramer, missing words, spelling...terrible. Good story line but terrible mistakes.
